House Arrival
Arrival at 4 Smallbrook Cottages ( passageway off Wye End Road) HR3 5AY¬
Our passageway – Smallbrook Cottages is not on Google maps. It can be easy to miss. At the end of the Wye End Road is the Globe arts centre. Next to this is a bungalow, and then the passageway for Smallbrook Cottages, with a clear sign. If there is no sign ‘Smallbrook Cottages’ then you are at the wrong alleyway. The house is no 4 located at the end of the passageway. There is a yard with tables and chairs in front of our house.
Unpacking
For unpacking – there is no specific parking for our house but there is a row of 1 hour or overnight public parking very close on Heol-y-dwr. If this is full, use double yellow lines for 10 minutes unpacking. Bank holidays and Sundays there is no parking time limit to marked parking area.
Key Lock
On left hand wall when Facing door behind the honeysuckle. 4442. Please return key when you leave.
Boiler
The boiler is in the kitchen. The two dials at the bottom of the boiler are turned off, ie. anticlockwise. Turn them both fully clockwise when you arrive. (unless we have managed to ask a neighbor to do this before you arrive). In Summer you probably don’t need central heating, so you can leave the left hand dial anti-clockwise.
Parking
There is a large unlimited- time free public carpark 2 minutes walk from the house. Go down hill past the Globe – turn right and then turn first left at a discrete unmarked road. Car park is by the river.
This car park can get full ( eg. Thursday is busy market day). You can also park on Newport Street before the COOP, this is unlimited parking. There will be one hour parking spots around Hay, or use Co-op’s temporarily, 1 ½ hours. (The parking by the river normally has places at tea time even on Thursday)
There is also a large public paying car park on Oxford Road at top end of town. Overnight parking there is free.
Cusop Dingle is only 10 minutes walk from the house, you can usually park up this road.
