I have met somebody who informs me about Blue Dragon – an organization on the outskirts of town which works with street children. I'm going to follow it up. Observed two English classes at the University. I am introduced and the students stand up and clap.
Checked out Blue dragon on the web – phoned- visited to see if they would like me to read story books with the children. Lovely place in poor suburbs in the North of Hanoi. Can I come and work one day a week?
I have found a room in the university where students play scrabble to practice their English in their lunch break. I tried to infiltrate but they looked at me blankly. Try harder to join in next time? Play on the courtesy the Vietnamese extend to foreigners? Establish myself as resident English scrabble player in residence? How sad can you get, Peter says.
